Li Edelkoort Trend Seminar

Fashion & Textiles SS 2028

Trend Seminar No. 1

Like glass, fashion is in an amorphous state, a period without clearly defined shapes. We dive into the fascinating world of glass as a cultural inspiration, set to shape design, textiles and garments for Spring/Summer 2028.

At this seminar, Li Edelkoort presents her colour and trend forecast, reading the world of glass for fashion, textiles and colour in the seasons to come.

The trend seminar will be of benefit to:
  • Designers and product developers
  • Concept developers, brand developers, and product owners
  • Brand, media, and communication professionals
  • Journalists and buyers
  • People engaged in seasonal work

Talk 1 - Haberdashery: Color Forecast

The first presentation at the seminar will focus on color and style trends.

Today, most design details push the boundaries: trimming iconic jackets, piping modernist grids, pleating famous shirts, and smocking playful bloomers. Metallic hardware adds contrast in this otherwise hedonistic realm, creating tension between familiar luxury looks and creative audacity—from gilded buttons to razor blades and safety pins. Buttons are a category of their own, expressing culture and couture, with materials like mother-of-pearl, wood, leather, bakelite, and ceramics. These haberdashery extremes define heritage, show pedigree, and shape a brand’s signature. They drive major color and style movements, co-creating trends that are both functional and emotional, reviving codes of dressing up: button-down collars, buckled belts, pleated rosettes, wool pompoms, knitted mittens, felt hats, and soft leather gloves. A shop of wonders hidden in drawers and displayed in a cabinet of curiosities—ready to bring playful charm back to fashion and color.

Talk 2 - Tradition: Fashion & Textiles

The second presentation at the seminar will focus on fashion and textiles.

This forecast examines the chaotic and extreme changes taking place in our world. Political, technological, and social forces are challenging our sovereignty, while the long-standing erosion of traditions has left people disconnected from rituals, celebrations, and social bonds. The digital age has intensified this isolation, turning many into introverted, disengaged citizens.

We must therefore create innovative traditions—conventions that blend historical customs with contemporary irreverence, merging ancestral knowledge with technology, and inviting people to reconnect and bond once more. Fashion plays a key role, offering garments that inspire confidence and self-awareness: from traditional and spiritual attire to nostalgic, ritualistic, and practical outdoor wear. This revival of tradition could spark a broader fashion renaissance, encouraging playfulness, ceremony, and the joy of dressing up.

DESIGN & INTERIORS 2028

Trend Seminar No. 2

Art and design are speaking the same language. Faced with an uncertain world, both reach for the same materials: marble, wood and glass, metal and fired earth. Beauty has become a kind of moral medication, and the art of living the new ambition. Consumers are turning into collectors, mixing old and new.

At this second seminar, Li Edelkoort takes materials as her starting point, reading these shifts for design, furniture, architecture and interiors

The trend seminar will be of benefit to:
  • Designers and product developers
  • Concept developers, brand developers, and product owners
  • Brand, media, and communication professionals
  • Journalists and buyers
  • People engaged in seasonal work

Here's what former participants have to say

“Together with the rest of Innoventi, I participated in the strategy conference with pej gruppen scandinavian trend institute. It was a day filled with inspiration, insight, and concrete tools that we could take home with us.
I was particularly impressed by how well professionalism, communication, and relevance went hand in hand. Everything was well thought out, relevant, and easy to put into practice.
It's rare to attend a conference where you learn new things, get new ideas, and leave wanting to take action—but that's what happened here."

– Alexander Fjelldal, Creative Director at Innoventi, Arendal
